THE PIVOTAL KEY is… Cheryl, John, and Sheldyn Valley.

1987

IT WAS A COLD, BLUSTERY WINTER DAY… working on scaffolding, putting up house wrap, and cutting sheets of aluminum siding with frozen fingers-- trying not to cut yourself on the sharp edges.  All back in the day when we installed shingles with a hammer and nails.

This was the driving force behind THE PIVOTAL KEY's creation, leading into the adventure of Property Management.

1989

The next shift was working for a property management/ home renovation company and supervising a home renovation crew.  We also performed residential property management services, which we continued to operate for 6 years.

1990

We endeavoured to entertain on-site building manager positions, along with home renovations.  We performed this service for 15 years, for various building communities in some of the most challenging areas in Windsor - Essex County.  At one time, we were known as the “Clean Up Crew”, the Landlord would send us to his worst properties and have us conduct a complete turnover. We transformed chaotic spaces into habitable and enjoyable places to live. Once the property was up to standards, the Landlord would ship us to another building. We were the first responders as On-site Managers for various emergencies.  

1998

Opportunity crossed paths to Condominium Management in working for a local Property Management company.

2001

Cheryl Valley was one of the first property managers in Windsor to acquire the Registered Condominium Manager designation.

2010

THE PIVOTAL KEY was incorporated. After working for other Management Companies in Ontario John & Cheryl believed they built an abundance of knowledge and were first-hand witnesses as to what strategies should be implemented into a Management Company and what ones should be avoided. With this plethora of experience, Pivotal Key was started and has excelled.

THE PIVOTAL KEY has worn many hats in the housing industry. Our comprehensive understanding of the industry allows us to be well-informed about issues like supervising staff, dealing with contractors, and the nuances of coordinating various maintenance projects and property emergencies.

THE PIVOTAL KEY has a diverse portfolio, including luxury high-rise condominiums with various amenities, to problem low-income housing projects. 

The property portfolio sizes we have managed range from 462 unit complexes, to 320-unit high-rise buildings.
